Organize Your Crafting Workspace: Clean Up and Clear Out!

Are you frustrated every time set down to work on a scrapbook? Can’t get excited about creating a layout? Then it’s time to Clean Up and Clear Out! You need to sort, pitch, and organize so that all your card stock, paper and tools are in good working order, stored properly and ready for your next project. Let’s get started!

All Supplies – Front & Center!

  • Gather ALL your scrapbooking tools and supplies… empty every drawer… search every room… put them all out on your table.
  • Sort everything into piles such as “punches”, “scissors”, “adhesives”, “markers” etc.
  • Pitch any products that are dried out or damaged; set aside any duplicate or unwanted items.
  • Sort your card stock by size and color; toss all small scraps into one pile; put larger scraps with their corresponding full-sized paper.
  • Sort your patterned paper the same way you did for your card stock.

Time to Sort, Repair or Replace!

  • Test all your markers. Set aside any that are a little too worn or about dried out.
  • Clean marks off your rulers and templates
  • Sharpen all your punches
  • Label all your supplies so they’re ready for the next event you want to attend.
  • Replace cutter blades TODAY!
  • Make a copy of your “master” Supply List; put today’s date on it and update it from the items in front of you.

Time to Organize!

  • Gather storage containers made for the scrap book supplies you have… or find reasonable substitutes.
  • Protect your valuable tools and supplies by putting them back into these containers to keep them dry, dust-free and organized.
  • Markers, gel pens and such hould be stored horizontally.
  • Card stock can be stored vertically if you have bins like mazagine holders that will give them good support.
  • Patterned Paper should be stored so that edges and corners are not damaged. This may require them being placed in tote boxes or in extra scrap book page sleeves – whatever is available to protect them
  • Items you use the most should be closest to your work area.
  • Mini Storage Bins on casters are a great way to keep tools and supplies handy at your craft table or wherever you’re working.

Congratulations! You’re organized! You’ve cleared out the excess, identified what needs to be replaced, and what additional supplies you need, and you’re storing everything as it should be! You’ll be surprised how much easier it is to find just what you need. And because everything is organized, you’ll be inspired to get back to crafting ASAP!
